In the below step-by-step guide we will cover on rooting Samsung
Galaxy Grand 2 using CF-Auto-Root tool by Chainfire. This detailed guide can be used to Root the Galaxy
Grand 2 SM-G7102 Model running Android 4.4.2 KitKat Stock Firmware.
Requirements:
1. A Windows based Computer (Xp-Vista-Win7-Win8)
2. Download and install Samsung
Mobile Drivers or Samsung Kies for the Computer to recognize the device.
4. Ensure the phone is atleast 60% charged.
6. Download CF-Autoroot for your Device
Warning!
This rooting tutorial is only applicable
for Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 SM -G7102. So, don't try this in any other android device. Check your
device model number from- Settings-About Phone.
Rooting voids your phone's
manufacturer warranty. However, you can get back the warranty anytime by
following proper unroot process or by flashing official firmware.
This guide is for educational purpose and you
should try this at your own risk. We are not responsible if your device
experience a soft brick after following this tutorial.
Note: Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any
buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
Procedure
- Download and
unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file
- Download Odin 3.09 and extract the Zip
file: OdinV3.09.Zip
- If
you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've
extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't
extract that one
- Now, Switch off your phone and boot your Galaxy into Download Mode.
- Run the Odin3 v3.09.exe file as an
administrator (Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as administrator)
- Now connect your Galaxy to computer via USB
cable
- In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like “0:[COM7]” at
ID:COM section and “Added!” text at the message box. This
means your device has been detected by Odin3.
- Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot” and “F.
Reset Time” options are checked.
- Now, click on the PDA button and select
the CF-Auto-Root-xxx.tar.md5 file.
- Finally, click on the Start button to begin
the rooting process, wait few moments.
- Once completed, you would see “PASS!” message in ID:COM
port having green background
- Your phone should automatically reboot after completion
- You can now disconnect your phone from computer
- Finished
Congrats! You have rooted
your Galaxy Grand 2 running 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware.
If you followed everything as mentioned in the above tutorial, then your Galaxy
Grand 2 should now rooted and you have complete control over your device.
Now, install apps that ask root permission or flash various custom ROMs. To
verify your device is rooted or not, you can download and run
the Root Checker App from
Google Play Store.
How to Install Custom ROMs:
- First of all, Creat backup of your current rom.
download the proper update file for your mobile on computer. - Optional: download the Google apps package if it is not included on the firmware file.
- Save the files on desktop; don’t unzip them.
- Then, connect your handset with the computer.
- Establish the connecting by using the USB cord.
- Copy-paste or drag and drop the downloaded files from desktop to your phone’s (tablet’s) SD card.
- Disconnect the devices by unplugging the USB cable.
- Turn off your smartphone / tablet and wait a few seconds.
- Then reboot your gadget into recovery mode.
- Next, navigate through the recovery mode menu and select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
- The system will now be wiped out, so that’s why the backup has been recommended before.
- Up next, return to recovery main menu: select “+++go back+++”.
- And choose “install zip from SD card” and “choose zip from SD card”.
- Pick the update file and flash the same.
- Optional: repeat this operation for applying the Google Apps package.
- When the installation process ends, from recovery select “+++go back+++” and “reboot system now”.
- You are done.
Troubleshooting:
In some cases after flashing the custom ROM, when rebooting the first time, your handset might get stuck in a boot loop (if the first boot takes longer than usual, don’t panic, there is nothing wrong with your device); if that happens, follow:
- Reboot in recovery once more.
- From there select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”.
- Return and reboot.
Optional: if needed now you can restore the previous software So, use the recovery menu and select “backup and restore”.
